This module is designed to support students through the process of innovation adoption in their practice setting. The definition of innovation used on this course is adapted from West and Farr (1990) and is understood as 'the intentional introduction and application within a role, practice setting or organization, of ideas, processes, products or procedures, new to the practice setting, designed to significantly benefit patients, the public, and staff working in health care'.

Students will be supported to identify a practice problem and work through a range of solutions, identifying the most appropriate evidenced based solution for their practice setting. Engaging stakeholders, patients and the public are a key focus for the module, as are the issues linked to local strategic planning, local implementation, data collection and analysis. The students will be taught how to write an evidence-based business case and to address challenges to innovation adoption and its sustainability.
