Successful completion of this module will enable the practitioner to effectively use cardiac monitoring to facilitate clinical assessment and deliver evidence-based care for adults with cardiac arrhythmias.

The course is also offered as a postgraduate (level 7) award.

Who is this module for?

This module is suitable for healthcare practitioners working with adult patients in a range of acute clinical settings including cardiology, cardiac surgery, acute medicine, pre-hospital and emergency care.

Students should be healthcare practitioners who regularly work with patients undergoing cardiac monitoring.

  2. Apply knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology to inform an accurate understanding of the potential complications arising from cardiac arrhythmias
  3. Formulate and prioritise effective care to ensure safety of patients experiencing cardiac arrhythmias and anticipate evidence-based pharmacological or invasive management.
  4. Critically reflect upon the psychosocial issues and ethico-legal considerations for patients living with cardiac arrhythmias.
