This module is a compulsory core module for all ACP pathways and is designed to support the learner to establish a comprehensive foundation in clinical pedagogy, practice education and approaches to continuing professional development which will support the ongoing development of self and others as advanced clinical practitioners. It may also be taken as a free standing module.

The module draws on contemporary research, opinion and wider pedagogic and professional development theory to equip practitioners with the knowledge and skills which underpin effective practice education including approaches to education, clinical, managerial and leadership supervision within and across traditional professional boundaries. The focus on professional learning provides a foundation for the learner’s wider advancing practice development. Opportunities to learn with and from colleagues include membership of multiprofessional learning sets and pathway-specific tutorials for individual learners to plan and contextualise learning within clinical specialty.

AIMS:
This module will enable learners to extend capacity to effectively synthesise and critically apply relevant pedagogic principles, theories and frameworks to:
• support personal advanced clinical practitioner professional development
• lead, guide and support the education and continuing development of fellow health and care professionals in the advanced clinical practice context
• guide and empower the collaborative development of individual health literacy and participation in care, health and well-being decisions, ensuring a focus on personalised care
